SQUAD PROGRAM

NUsport's Swim Squad programs offer a range of different swimming classes that are designed to suit people with varying needs and abilities. Swimmers can join a squad for fitness, to provide cross training for other sports, aim for competition or simply to benefit from the many positives that swimming can bring.

SWIM SQUAD LEVELS & MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD - Intro

Introduction to squad training with an emphasis on refining technique and building essential skills. Sessions are designed to enhance performance in the 100m Individual Medley. NUSwim membership is encouraged, and there is no minimum training requirement (we recommend at least 2 sessions per week). Members are typically 7-10yrs old.

Equipment required: Kickboard, pull buoy (Vorgee 3 layer pull buoy / junior pull buoy), short blade fins (Speedo x DMC), front snorkel (Speedo bullet centre snorkel).

Session Duration: 60 Minutes

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD - PLUS

Designed to refining skills, building endurance and preparing swimmers for entry level competition. NUSwim membership is encouraged, and there is no minimum training requirement (we recommend at least 2 sessions per week). Members are typically 7-10yrs old.

Equipment required: Kickboard, pull buoy (Vorgee 3 layer pull buoy / junior pull buoy), Short blade fins (Speedo x DMC), Front snorkel (Speedo bullet centre snorkel).

Session Duration: 60 Minutes

This squad works towards individual best. Ideal training squad for athletes involved in multiple sports.  NUSwim membership is encouraged, and there is no minimum training requirement.

TARGET SQUAD - Competitive

This squad is designed to improve 200 individual medley including skill development. Members are typically 9-12yrs old and are required to swim 3-5 sessions per week and NUSwim Club membership is mandatory. The program will be geared towards participation at Coast and Valley, NSW Country and NSW State Age Championships.

Equipment: Kickboard, pull buoy (vorgee 3 layers / junior pull buoy), short blade fins (Speedo x DMC), front snorkel (Speedo bullet centre).

STATE DEVELOPMENT SQUAD - COMPETITIVE

This program is designed towards performance at NSW state and national age championships, SNSW championships, Country and CVSA. Ideal for athletes involved in multiple sports. Members must attend 4-6 swim sessions per week, and NUSwim Club membership and participation is mandatory.

Equipment: Kickboard, pull buoy, fins (speedo x DMC), front snorkel (Speedo bullet centre), shute or DIY sponge paddles (Engine).

Session Duration: 105 Minutes

NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT SQUAD - COMPETITIVE

This program is designed towards performance at NSW state and national age/open championships. Ideal for athletes who commit to swimming as their first sport. Members are 13yrs and over and have achieved National qualification times or are close (at discretion of Head Coach). Members must attend 5-7 swim sessions per week, and NUSwim Club membership and participation is mandatory. This program is designed towards increased participation and performance at the National Age and Open level competitions.

Equipment: Kickboard, pull buoy, fins (Speedo x DMC), front snorkel (Speedo bullet centre), shute or DIY sponge paddles (Engine).

Lead coach: Franka Gieles

Session Duration: 120 minutes, with a comprehensive gym and dry-land program delivered twice weekly.

NUSWIM SWIMMING CLUB

All swim academy members are encouraged to join the NUSwim Swimming Club.

NUSwim Swimming Club is a dynamic and inclusive club dedicated to fostering a love for swimming at all levels. Whether you're a competitive swimmer aiming for personal bests or a newcomer looking to develop your skills, we provide a supportive and professional environment to help you achieve your goals.

Our club is affiliated with Swimming NSW and offers structured training programs led by experienced coaches who are committed to athlete development. We actively participate in local, state, and national competitions, while also promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.

At NUSwim, we pride ourselves on our strong community spirit. We welcome swimmers of all ages and abilities, along with their families, to be part of a club that values excellence, encouragement, and enjoyment in the sport.
