COMMUNITY

NUSPORT IS NOT JUST A GYM - IT IS ACTIVELY PART OF THE COMMUNITY

ACCESSIBILITY

NUsport is committed to supporting members and the community from all walks of life with ability and determination by providing facilities that promotes and advocates for positive physical and mental health.

Accessibility and equity are strategic priorities of NUsport, underpinned by the University of Newcastle ’s leadership in inclusion.

Everything we do involves wide consultation with our accessible community; review and improvement of current policies, practices, systems and infrastructure; and building confidence and capacity for staff to deliver programs inclusively.

The newly refurbished aquatic facility at NUsport has been modified to accommodate all abilities enabling us to be the premier destination for accessibility in our community.

This includes the existing structure to have a disabled ramp and accessible changerooms and installation of a new elevator with improved accessibility.

GIVING BACK

NUsport is proud to play an active role in helping to raise awareness and funds that support local charities, schools, sporting and surf clubs in the Newcastle area.

Each year NUsport provides use of its facilities as well as donates prizes to assist community -based organisations in their fundraising endeavours.

This support is valued at more than $50,000 each year - a contribution that we are proud of. If you would like to be considered for a donation or in-kind support, click here for more information.
