Student Residential Membership

University life just got a whole lot more exciting now that you’ve found NUsport. 

NUsport is now part of your cheer squad to keep you active and motivated to move. As part of your Student Living accommodation package, you now have full access to a Fitness and Aquatic Membership at NUsport.  This membership is known as your Student Residential NUsport Membership.

How do I redeem my Student Residential NUsport Membership?

You’ll need to redeem your membership before your first visit and you can redeem your NUsport Membership either online or in club.

If you’d like to redeem your membership in a NUsport facility, please see the friendly staff at Reception.

Do I need to pay extra for my Student Residential NUsport Membership?

No. This membership is provided to residents of Student Living and there are no joining fees.

Where do I get my Student Residential NUsport Membership card?

Great news, you already have it.  Your University Student card will be used to access NUsport facilities. 

When can I use my Student Residential Membership?

Your NUsport Membership will be valid from 3 February 2024 for as long as you are a Student Living resident (ie as long as you are contracted to live on campus) and is only available to current Student Living residents.    

What should I do if I already have a NUsport Fitness Membership?

If you already have a NUsport Fitness Membership, please reach out to ask@theforum.org.au for your membership to be transferred over to the Student Residential NUsport Membership. 

What facilities can I access with my Student Residential NUsport Membership?

Your Student Residential NUsport Membership gives you full member access to NUsport facilities.

Do I need to book in for Group Fitness classes?

YES!  It is essential that you book in for all Group Fitness classes.  Bookings can be made through your member portal or through The Forum App.

What happens if I move out of Student Living?

Your Student Residential NUsport Membership will end on the day you move out of Student Living.  If you’d like to continue to access NUsport facilities we can help you transfer across to another membership.

NUsport’s group fitness program is high energy and will leave you wanting more. Led by our team of exceptional, qualified and experienced instructors, the class delivery is second to none. There are over 100 classes per week to choose from.

SOCIAL SPORT

NUsport offers seven days per week of social sport competition for students, staff and our wider community. Register as a team or individual but be quick, as places fill up quickly!

NUSPORT CLUBS

Sport and active recreation clubs enjoy a strong and proud history at the University of Newcastle. From the inception of the Bushwalking Club in 1955 to the rise of the Quadball Club in 2015, clubs have always played a vital role in enhancing the student experience at university. RESCHALLENGE

Instilling a proud tradition of competition and friendly rivalry, the ResChallenge Sports Program exists to encourage positive interaction between on-campus residents of the University of Newcastle. The sporting program commences in early March and formally concludes with the Student Living Awards Dinner in October.

UNIVERSITY NATIONALS

With elevated levels of competition across national multi-sport events and stand-alone Nationals in up to ten additional sports, the stage is set to showcase the very best university student-athletes. ELITE ATHLETES

As a member of the Elite Athlete Education Network (EAEN), The University of Newcastle is committed to supporting the endeavours of high level athletes to combine study and maintain their involvement in elite level sport. Through the provision of academic support and flexibility, sport scholarships and world class training facilities, the University of Newcastle and NUsport can assist in achieving a 'dual career' – that of sporting prestige and completion of tertiary study.
